I'm Sharayah.

[Pronounced: Sha-RAY-uh]


I picked up my first DSLR in college. It was an outdated clunky Canon with a whopping 8 megapixels to it. I am very much self-taught. Once I had my camera, I spent hours on YouTube, StumbleUpon, and subjected my friends and family to be my photography guinea pigs.


Eventually, people started asking me about sessions and what I was charging. From there, "SDK Photography" was born (I rebranded to Sharayah Dawn Photography in 2017). Through the years, I slowly started upgrading my gear, teaching myself what I could - whether it was posing or camera settings.


I've shot a lot of different things - weddings, seniors, engagements, couples, maternity, family, various other events, birth stories, cake smashes. Saying yes led me to learn more about my style and how I like to tell stories through my photography.


All of this has led me to where I am now. I love how this hobby transformed into a side hustle that has led me to meet so many cool people and go to some really neat places.

You know when you're watching football on TV, and a player goes down with an injury, and someone with a fanny pack jogs out there to help them? That's my full-time job, I'm an Athletic Trainer at a 5A High School in Oregon.


I received my Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Concordia University Portland - where I was also a hammer thrower for the track team. My Master's Degree is in Athletic Training from Weber State in Ogden, Utah.


My husband and I met in college (both on the track team) and got married in 2016. We are the proud parents of a 9 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Winston and a 7 year old Australian Shepherd named Donut.


Another hobby of mine is powerlifting - squat, bench press and deadlift. I've competed in 11 meets and even had the opportunity to go to Australia to compete.


I also call myself a cake dealer - a hobby that really started during Covid. I love baking things to give as gifts, but also to give my friends diabetes when they come over for dinner.
