When Dan and Lynnesy got engaged, Lynnesy asked me if I'd be interested in shooting their elopement. My immediate answer was "fuck yes".
I had no idea what that adventure would end up looking like.
Stehekin, Washington is incredibly remote. The only ways to get there is by ferry, by seaplane or by backpacking in. Which is how Dan and Lynnesy had stumbled across this place - backpacking the Washington portion of the PCT.
We had a plan going in, an idea of a hike and an area we thought we wanted to be in. Despite our best research, it's hard to know everything heading into it. But maaaannnnnn did end up working out flawlessly.
Friday, we rode in on the ferry, already the views were breathtaking.
Our first stop after our bus picked us up was the gift shop and bakery (Stehekin is known for this bakery). Our plan was to ask a few locals about our spot, maybe see if they had a better suggestion. And sure enough, the lovely gal at the gift shop had gotten married 4 days prior and let us in on their location by the orchard.
We got settled in at Stehekin Valley Ranch. Dan and Lynnesy had chatted up some neighbors who recommended the e-bikes to do some location scouting before dinner, so away we went. I do have to mention just how much fun these bikes were, I know I was grinning ear to ear the whole time (well, until my bike ran out of juice and I had to get myself back to the ranch with the bike stuck on the highest gear).
After dinner, I spent sunset on the hammock while the officiant (surprise, it's my husband - Lynnesy's brother Bo) worked on his speech and we went over the paperwork. We had our location picked and plan for the following day.
The big day.
We wake up early to catch breakfast at the ranch before meeting Lynnesy and Dan at their wagon. I'm going to quit rambling, and tell the story of the day with the photos.
I'm no videographer, but I do love to dabble in a highlight video every now and then.
It's really quite a privilege to get to do this, to tell this story. It is so cool to document life, love, and second chances.
Lynnesy and Dan - thank you both so much for including me in your day. I get teary eyed looking through your gallery and rewatching your video. I love you both!
Also a huge thank you to our second witness from the bakery!
